FEEDING DIRECTIONS:

Senior Horses:                         Daily lbs. fed per Day

Weight of Horse      Maintenance      Light Work

              800 pounds             10—12 lbs.        12—14 lbs.
           1,000 pounds             12—14 lbs.        14—16 lbs.
           1,200 pounds             14—16 lbs.        16—18 lbs.

If hay is used, reduce amount of feed 1 pound for each 2 pounds of hay fed.

Growing Horses: (if fed as sole ration)

Weanling @ 4 Months 400 lbs.     12 lbs/day

Weanling @ 6 Months 500 lbs.     14 lbs/day

Yearling @ 12 Months 720 lbs.     16 lbs/day

Yearling @ 18 Months 880 lbs.     17 lbs/day

Two Year Old            1,000 lbs.     16 lbs/day

Hay can be fed to the growing horse but don’t feed more than 6 lbs. of hay/day.

Horses should consume a ration of long stem roughage (hay) equaling 1/2 to 1 lbs. per 100 lbs. of body weight daily. Feed at a regular time each day and split feedings into two separate feedings. Do not feed more than 0.50% of body weight at each feeding. If you are feeding more than 0.50% at each feeding switch to three feedings per day. Provide free choice fresh, clean water at all times except to hot horses that have just been exercised. Offer salt free choice at all times and Big V 12:12 Horse Mineral can be fed if desired. Bring horses on to this feed gradually over a 10 day period to give the horse’s digestive system time to adapt to the new ration. Do not feed the growing horses excessive amounts that would produce overweight weanlings/yearlings.
